May 18, 2018

Here at Team Fergmeijer, we don’t take Victoria Day lightly, but has anyone else noticed that a short week is 4 days long, but a long weekend is only 3?

Betty Fisher celebrated her 90th birthday on May 10th! Tomorrow, on May 19th, everyone is welcome to a come-and-go tea from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Anglican Church in Kagawong to help Betty celebrate. Do stop in!

Don’t forget that municipal elections are on the horizon this fall. Consider putting your hat in the ring to help guide and shape the future of the township. Also, you can check the elections Ontario website for information about how to register, and where/when to vote in the upcoming provincial election. Check out https://www.elections.on.ca/en.html

Plucky from the Kagawong Fitness Club (KFC) invites you to shake off those winter blahs and get into shape this spring. High quality commercial workout equipment available 24/7! Contact Sharon Jackson or another member of the recreation committee for more details.

In anticipation of the long weekend, Team Fergmeijer has taken extra special care writing up our list of things we won’t get around to doing this weekend.

Love tennis? Hate blackflies? Join the Manitoulin Tennis Club for their annual, start-of-the-tennis-season, Blackfly Doubles Tournament tomorrow (May 19). No partner needed - come by the courts at Manitoulin Secondary School beginning at 9:30am to shake off the rust. $5 entry fee - all levels welcome for this fun tournament!

Last week, Kagawong lost another stalwart member of the community. Jim had a great sense of humour, and was willing to help whenever needed. He was a big proponent of working smarter, not harder (evident on the days he used his Segway to walk Hannah). We will miss him.

If at first you don’t succeed… try, try again. Hydro One has announced another planned power outage on Sunday May 27th from 9am to 3pm.

No matter what you get up to this weekend, on Tuesday, when someone asks you what you did over the long weekend, just squint at them and ask “Why? What have your heard?” Have a great week!
