Have you done your spring cleaning yet? It’s cleaning day for Team Fergmeijer today! We’ve already polished off a bag of chips, cleaned out a carton of ice cream, and put away a pair of chocolate bars.

Opening to rave reviews last weekend, be sure to stop in to the Old Mill Heritage Centre this weekend to see the new exhibit on Lester B. Pearson! Staff and volunteers have done a phenomenal job, and it’s an exhibit you won’t want to miss.

Happy birthday to Casey B, who turns 29 today! Dance hard, my friend!

The next Billings Library movie night will be tomorrow (Saturday, May 27) at 7pm. Check out the library Facebook page for upcoming show dates, titles and trailers. And don’t forget that the library is also offering a variety of board games for all ages, available for playing in the library or checking out for a week of fun at home.

The Economic Development Committee has launched it’s newest initiative, the Story Trail writing challenge! Submit your short story (500 words max) about Kagawong or Manitoulin to Box 150, Kagawong, ON P0P1J0 for a chance to win a cash prize. In addition, submissions will be curated for display along the river trail as well as in shops around town. Submission date is coming soon: June 2nd! Check out the Story Trail page on Facebook, or contact Sharon (705-282-0193) or Diane (705-282-8346). Remember, being a writer is 3% talent, and 97% not getting distracted by the internet.

Homemade lasagna, AND homemade pie?! Stop by the Park Centre Friday, June 2 from 5pm-7pm for a meal out with friends, put on by St. John’s Anglican Church. Eat-in or take-out available; $15 for adults and $7 for children under 10.

Manitoulin Secondary is hosting a Relay for Life event June 2-3. It’s not too late to register! Teams of any size walk through the night to raise money that goes toward cancer research, prevention, and outreach. Check out http://relayforlife.ca/manitoulinss for information on registering a team or making a donation.

Set Saturday, June 10 aside to see Jay Aymar, “one of the hardest travelling singer-songwriters this country has to offer,” at the Main Street Café! Tickets are $20, and seating is limited. Contact the Café for more information.

Interested in learning more about the Western Manitoulin Community Garden? For more information, contact Todd Gordon, the Economic Development Officer for Billings.

Euchre continues to happen Wednesday evenings at the Park Centre. We’ve got results from the last week (May 10th): Ladies High Score - Kal; Mens High Score Dave; Ladies Loners Wilma; Mens Loners Lil; Low Score Deanna; Door Prize Jim

Meanwhile, in an alternate universe, someone is wondering where all these single socks are coming from.
