November 4, 2016

This weekend marks Team Fergmeijer’s favourite time of year… an extra hour of sleep, and the brunch that inevitably follows! Don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour Saturday night.
If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Old Mill Heritage Centre, be sure to head in this coming week to see their Remembrance Day commemorations. Every year, the Old Mill features moving and memorable military displays - don’t miss it!

Despite the overcast weather, the recreation committee played host to many members of the community as people came out to carve their spectacular squash masterpieces at the annual BYOPumpkin carving party. With hot drinks, games, and even a pinata, it’s safe to say a good time was had by all.

Next up for seasonal festivities is Christmas in Kagawong, November 18-20! Start the weekend off by checking out the Friday night vendors at the Park Centre and taking in a tourtière supper. Ben voyons, c’est beau ça! Throughout the weekend, check out the vendors, luncheons, silent auction, and pictures with Santa! See the ad in the paper or the Christmas in Kagawong Facebook event for more details.

Euchre is back up and running at the Park Centre Wednesday nights at 7:30pm, with tournaments every third Wednesday of the month. We haven’t heard any results lately - if you happen to know who won what, please let us know!

Zumba is taking a pause November 3rd and 10th, but Zumba-ites will be grooving at the Park Centre again on November 17th.

Happy birthday to Brad M who celebrated 29 years last week. Gail L was also celebrating her 29th birthday just yesterday. Here’s hoping their Halloween birthdays were less terrifying than aging. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with candy AND cake.

Next movie on the big screen at the Billings Library is Saturday, November 12th. The incredible Kubo and the Two Strings will be showing at 7pm. Free admission as always!

While writing this column, Team Fergmeijer discovered the hard way that writing with a broken pencil is pointless, but feel we have made some fine points regardless. Though we had to be careful the article wasn’t lead with a pun. Have a great week!
