November 25, 2016

Team Fergmeijer has recently upped their game when it comes to exercising. We’ve doubled the number of diddly-squats we do in one day! We had to do something with the Chocolate Works, Boo Bah Lou, AND Main Street Cafe all open into the fall and winter.

Christmas in Kagawong was a huge success! There were dozens of local artisans and businesses represented and the Park Centre was a constant hub of festive activity. Santa even put in an early appearance, despite the threat of heat stroke (he’s used to significantly snowier environs this time of year). Thanks to the EDC and all the many volunteers who made the weekend so special.

If you are on Facebook and follow the Kagawong page (www.facebook.com/kagawong1), you will be seeing some memories of Christmas concerts past. Like the time the amazing, good-looking, intelligent and talented group of Jill, Heather and Chris performed the 12 Days of Christmas, complete with a splash zone! (No members of the KGB were harmed in the making of that skit.) The memories will continue to be posted periodically in the lead up to this year’s concert on Saturday, December 10th. The family-friendly event will start at 7pm; admission is by donations of non-perishables or cash. All proceeds will go to Manitoulin Family Resources. If you are interested in taking part on-stage, email Team Fergmeijer, make contact through Facebook, or call Mike at 282-8355. As always, talent is completely optional.

The library is pleased to present the movie The Wild Life, playing on the big screen tomorrow night (Nov. 29th). Show starts at 7pm. Bring the family! Free admission as always.

Looking for more grown up entertainment this weekend? Check out the Manitoulin Community Choir’s Song and Cider concert, an evening of choral song that mixes folk favourites, Canadiana, and sacred classics. Fun starts at 7:30pm at the Park Centre; tickets are $10 per person ($20/family).

A very happy belated 29th  birthday goes out to Monica. We hope she doesn’t take the snow storm on her birthday personally. Happy birthday, also, to Dwyne, who turns 29 on Saturday. Neither of them are likely to see this shout out, but really, Team Fergmeijer decided a long time ago that this column is more for entertaining ourselves than anything else. Though they COULD check out our online archive! http://teamfergmeijer.blogspot.ca/

In other news, a mysterious white ferret has been spotted out at Maple Point. Could this be the ghost of furry Christmases past? Or perhaps a devious developer trying to ferret out a good deal on waterfront property?
