March 18, 2016

Top o’the mornin’ to you, and a happy belated St. Patrick’s Day. Shamrocks, shelelaghs and shenanigans for all!

If the milder weather is your motivation to get up off the couch, Zumba resumes next week at the Park Centre, and meets Thursdays at 7pm, led by Casey O’Boisvert. Want to strengthen your mind AND your body? Chris O’Theijsmeijer is starting up Tai Chi again on Tuesday, March 29. And don’t forget, you can sign up for a membership at the Kagawong Fitness Centre (91 Main Street - just look for “Plucky”) at any time of the year. Contact Sharon O’Jackson for a tour and to start your membership.

A very happy birthday goes out to...someone I’m sure, but they aren’t telling us about it. We can’t imagine why, but we’re sure that if they did have a birthday, it was their 29th.

Spring is definitely in the air, and the township’s Go Green committee is busy planning for this year’s Green Living Expo on April 22-23. Stay tuned to this column for more details as we get closer to the date.

This Saturday, Carol O’Corneau will be teaching a master class in making the perfect pastry. Participants will go home with one ready-to-bake apple pie and enough dough for another double crust pie. The class is full, but it's not too late to find out who is signed up and casually invite yourself over to their house for a slice or two. Or three.

The recreation committee would like to invite you and your little ones to the annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 26th. Come out to the Park Centre for 10am to meet the Easter Bunny and search for goodies!

Team O’Fergmeijer would like to issue a friendly challenge to all you bird-watchers out there, searching for that one true sign that spring has arrived: who will be the first to spot (or hear) a Sandhill Crane? Our money’s on Willa O’Wilson, but anyone might be the first! Email us with the date when you first spot a crane and we’ll be sure to plug your bird-watching prowess.

We are also looking forward to the return of the annually-migrating snowbirds over the next few weeks. Welcome back, everyone!

Hey, Providence Bay! Yes, you over there in the column next to us. Just keep in mind that size doesn’t matter.

We’ll end with some humour that might leave you a little green: What do you get when you cross poison ivy with a four-leaf clover? A rash of good luck. Have a great week!
