March 11, 2016

From igloos to arks, we’ve seen an amazing shift in weather this week. Be mindful of some of those back roads as they transition from ice roads to the pot-hole-filled obstacle courses we all know and love.

Local instructors are also on March Break this coming week - there will be no Tai Chi or Zumba at the Park Centre this week. Zumba resumes Thursday, March 24, and Tai Chi resumes Tuesday, March 29.

The next Billings Library movie night is tomorrow! Stop in at 7pm to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip!

A very happy birthday goes out to Tizzy who turns 29 on an unspecified day, because she told us we couldn’t print it on pain of an unpleasant death. Good thing our mysterious pen name means that nobody really knows who we are.

The Kagawong Folk Roots Collective would like to thank everyone who made the drive out to see sing along at Gospel Night in Silver Water last week. The Collective played to a packed house at St. Andrew’s United Church, and helped raise over $400 for the Angel Bus.

Spring is definitely in the air, and the township’s Go Green committee is busy planning for this year’s Green Expo in mid-April. Stay tuned to this column for more details as we get closer to the date.
The recreation committee would like to invite you and your little ones to the annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday March 26th. Come out to the Park Centre for 10am to meet the Easter bunny and search for goodies.

Team Fergmeijer would like to issue a friendly challenge to all you bird-watchers out there, searching for that one true sign that spring has arrived: who will be the first to spot (or hear) a Sandhill Crane? Our money’s on Willa, but anyone might be the first! Email us with the date when you first spot a crane and we’ll be sure to plug your bird-watching prowess.

It’s creeping up on spring cleaning time. While you are wading your way through a winter’s worth of ‘stuff’ looking for that one item you just know should be there, remember: it’s not truly lost until your mom can’t find it. Have a great March Break!
