We’ve received some feedback about our very punny column last week. Not everyone was laughing. Some readers felt we have been a bit condescending. (That means talking down to people.) We’ll strive to do better in the future.
Green Living Expo was back last weekend and better than ever! With short SMASH talks on a variety of green-related topics, electric and hybrid cars galore and a variety of booths featuring eco-offerings from local businesses and artisans. Once again, the Recreation committee and the Go-Green Committee have hit it out of the park with their efforts.
We were extremely saddened to hear of Jan Bainbridge’s sudden passing this week. She will be missed.
We don’t seem to have any birthdays to announce this week, but if you have a friend or family member you would like to embarrass… uh… honour, with a mention in this column, send us a name and date via email.
Tomorrow! The Manitoulin Community Choir presents their spring concert on Saturday, April 28 at 7:30pm at the Kagawong Park Centre. Admission is $10, or $20 per family. Don’t miss it!
We at Team Fergmeijer used to think that the onion was the only food that could make us cry. But then one of us sat on a pineapple.
Drum roll please… we have Euchre results! There was a three-way tie for first place last week: Ken & Judy; Ted & Ruth; Sally & Bev. In fourth place was Sheila & Graham. Most Loners was Dave & Laureen and Ted & Ruth. Lil & Diane had the low score and Mike walked away with the door prize.
The Billings landfill has reverted back to their regular hours for the summer. Stop by to chat with Dennis and trade your trash for treasures at the Kagawong Mall - Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm - 8pm, Saturdays from 10am - 6pm, or Sundays from 1pm - 6pm.
A quick heads up about the planned power outage on May 6th. Power will be out in the morning for several hours, so plan accordingly.
Our words of wisdom for this week: Nature abhors a vacuum, but not as much as a cat does.
