September 30, 2016

How is it the end of September already? It feels like it was May just 3 seconds ago. On the upside, this time of year means great weather for all the cool activities going on in and around town these days.

The Old Mill Heritage Centre is hosting a walking tour of historic downtown Kagawong, led by Jacquie Gordon, this afternoon. Meet at the Old Mill for 2pm, and wear your walking shoes! The tour is free, but donations can be made to the museum.

The Elemental Festival starts today! Tonight through Sunday, there will be concerts, workshops, guided walks and visiting artists in Kagawong. It’ll be a great weekend to be out and about in the village. Check out www.4elementslivingarts.org for a full schedule of events and artists.

Got creative inspiration? Submit your ideas for permanent outdoor sculptures that will be part of the Billings Art and Heritage Trail to 4elements by October 24th. Check out the Kagawong Facebook page for more details or contact 4elements (www.4elementslivingarts.org) to get your submission package.

Kagawongians are hitting the road to raise money for cancer research. Mary Buie and the Burns Wharf players as well as one half of Team Fergmeijer are lacing up to run in the CIBC Run for the Cure event at the beginning of October! If you are interested in donating to this very worthy cause, please visit https://goo.gl/Xl2xw9 or pop by www.Facebook.com/Kagawong1 to click on the live link.

Happy birthday to honourary Kagawongian Kathryn Buie who will be turning 29 on Sunday. Here’s hoping soon-to-be baby Buie lets her sleep in!

The library’s next movie night is tomorrow - Saturday, Oct. 1st. Bring out the kids for Ice Age: Collision Course starting at 7pm. Check the Kagawong Facebook page to see info on all upcoming movies.

The #4eFestivalHaiku contest deadline has passed, but we couldn’t resist publishing one more haiku that came into us this past week, especially with Thanksgiving coming up:
Hey! Team Fergmeijer!
Kagawong Gobble Brigade
Is out in full force!
(submitted by MBB and TCO)

Team Fergmeijer was down at the river watching the salmon swimming upstream the other day, and saw one wearing a tie. How very sofishticated! Have a great week!
