June 3, 2016

Team Fergmeijer has been basking just a bit too much in the great weather we’ve been having lately. We popped into the pharmacy to stock up on sunscreen, and the lady in line ahead of us pointed at our faces and asked for a lipstick in that exact shade of red.

Hungry? Don’t want to cook or do dishes? St. John’s Anglican Church is hosting a Lasagna Dinner fundraiser (with home made pies!) TONIGHT (Friday, June 3) from 5-7pm at the Park Centre. Tickets are $14 for adults, $7 for children under 10. Call 705-282-1031 for more information or to reserve your seats!

The Park Centre is still a happenin’ place to be: Zumba continues for two more sessions on Thursdays at 7pm, until June 16. Tai Chi’s last session is Tuesday, June 7 at 6:30pm.
Start gathering up all your old electronics and batteries - Manitoulin Secondary School’s Go Green committee is holding an e-waste collection on June 11th from 9-2pm at the high school.
Saturday night is movie night at the library. This week Whiskey Tango Foxtrot will be on the big screen. Show starts at 7pm and admission is free!

A very happy 29th birthday goes out to two very special people - you know who you are. Team Fergmeijer would consider ourselves lucky to be like you.

Registration is now open for River School - a partnership between 4elements Living Arts and Manitoulin Streams to deliver a series of summer programs for kids and adults along the Kagawong River. Come prepared to get your feet wet and your hands dirty! For more information, or to register, phone 705-282-0444 or email patricia@4elementslivingarts.org.

Did anyone see the crazy orange shirts walking the highway on Saturday? That was MPP Mike Mantha and his #Mantharays making the 25km walk from Kagawong to Mindemoya, raising awareness (as well as funds and food) for Manitoulin Family Resources.  It was a huge success, and it sounds like plans are already in the works for a repeat next year.

Euchre is running each Wednesday night at 7pm at the Park Centre and everyone is welcome to come out for a hand. Last week’s results are Ladies’ High - Stella, Men’s High - Bob and Phyllis, Ladies’ Low - Lynda, Men’s Low - Muriel, Door prize - Lynda.

Until next week, remember: no matter how much you push the envelope, it’ll still be stationery.
