June 17, 2016

Team Fergmeijer sat down to make their annual summer ‘to do’ list. It consists of mostly naps, coffee breaks, and swimming. It’s going to be a good summer. We hope yours is shaping up to be just as great. If you’re worried there won’t be enough to do, read on…

The next library movie night is tomorrow. Bring the kids out to watch Kung Fu Panda 3 on the big screen! Be sure to check the Billings Library Facebook page for more details. Show starts at 7pm and admission is free.

On Sunday, treat Dad to a Father’s Day pancake breakfast at the Park Centre. Doors open at 8am and service runs until 11am.

A very happy 29th birthday goes out to Karlene who celebrated last Tuesday with cake and balloons a-plenty!

The Kagawong Folk/Roots Collective has a couple of performances coming up in Mindemoya on June 18 (7:30pm at the Mindemoya United Church), and Gore Bay on June 25 (7:30pm at the Lyons Memorial United Church). Tickets for either show are $10 at the door, and light snacks and beverages will be provided. Come out and join the fun!

Special shoutout to our friends in Evansville, the home of the Team Fergmeijer fan club!

Registration is now open for River School - a partnership between 4elements Living Arts and Manitoulin Streams to deliver a series of summer programs for kids and adults along the Kagawong River. Come prepared to get your feet wet and your hands dirty! For more information, or to register, phone 705-282-0444 or email patricia@4elementslivingarts.org.

Some dates to mark on your calendar to kick off the summer: the Anglican Church yard sale, BBQ & bake sale on Saturday, July 2nd will run from 10am to 3pm at the Kagawong Farmer’s Market. Bring yer appetite! On that same day the Recreation Committee will be holding a car wash from 10am to 2pm at the Fire Hall. Later that week, on the 6th, the Billings Library is holding their annual Book & Bake Sale at the Park Centre. Dang! Kagawong is hopping!

Euchre is running each Wednesday night at 7pm at the Park Centre and everyone is welcome to come out for a hand. Last week’s results: Ladies’ high - Kal, Men’s high - Phyllis, Ladies’ lone - Lynda/Janet; Men’s Lone - Mike, Low score - Ria, Door prize - Susan.

In closing, we wish a happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful fathers out there. Team Fergmeijer would like to send special love to our dads. We turned out awesome and darned good looking; for that, we salute you!
