May 15, 2020

It was National
Haiku Day last week, you know.
Had to have some here!

The Kagawong landfill has updated their hours. The landfill will be open for garbage and recycling deposit Thursdays from 2-6pm and Sundays from 2-4pm. Yard and construction waste will not be accepted until further notice. Be patient and have a kind word for our hard working township employees!

I dig and we dig,

she digs, he digs, and they dig.

Poem’s ugly, but deep.

A reminder that the falls and river trail, the playground at the main beach, and the dog park continue to be closed. Please be aware that the OPP will be out and enforcing the 2-meter distance and maximum gathering size requirements put in place by the province.

Haiku for horses?

No way! Are you serious?

They can’t even read.

In an effort to prevent potential spread of COVID-19, M’Chigeeng is restricting movement through the community. The band office has advised Billings that Jerusalem Hill, and south on Monument Road to Highway 542 is the preferred detour for us to get to and from Mindemoya. Residents of Billings can apply to M’Chigeeng band office for a travel permit.

There was a young man

From Cork who got limericks

And haikus confused

OCWA began flushing the water distribution system yesterday and will continue the annual maintenance program today. Work will be completed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Properties connected to the water system may experience lower than normal water pressure. If you notice discoloured water, run your cold water tap until it clears. Avoid doing laundry during this period, if possible. Contact the municipal office if issues persist.

How much can I fit

Into a haiku format

Oh no I’m out of

A reminder that the township has a volunteer network in place. If you are in need of help (grocery delivery, pharmacy pickup, etc) or if you know of anyone who may need this type of assistance, contact the town office. (705-282-2611; mbonenfant@billingstwp.ca).

And lastly, we offer our loyal readers some advice...

When life shuts a door

Just open it. It’s a door,

That is how doors work.

Have a great week!
